All our medico legal audiometry follows British Society of Audiology guidelines. Peter Byrom is a Senior Fellow of the British Society of Audiology, so you can be confident your assessment meets the highest clinical standards.

All medico legal audiograms are completed by HCPC-registered Hearing Aid Dispenser (HAD) Audiologists, giving you reassurance that your assessment is in expert hands.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

When you attend for medico legal audiometry you are requested to provide photographic proof of identity (usually a driving license or passport).

Before Testing:

• Video otoscopy is performed.
• Any ear wax blocking the ear canal is safely removed (with your consent) using micro-suction, irrigation, or other techniques.

During the Assessment:

You’ll be asked some clinical questions about your:

• Hearing
• Tinnitus
• Noise exposure

After Testing:

• Your completed questionnaire and audiogram are sent as a PDF to the requesting party.
• If you booked independently, we’ll send the results directly to you and explain your hearing test and potential causes in detail.

For Legal Professionals

If you’re arranging medico legal audiometry for a client, we’ll invoice you once the report is complete. Payment is due on receipt.

Tinnitus affects everyone differently, so we tailor treatment to the individual. Our comprehensive assessment may include:/p>

Vestibular (Balance) Assessment & Treatment Plans

Vestibular assessments for medico legal cases are usually requested by ENT consultants preparing reports on dizziness or balance issues.

We also offer vestibular rehabilitation to support recovery, which may include:

• Neuro-physiotherapy referrals
• Virtual reality (VR) balance therapy
• Exercise programmes
• Mindfulness and relaxation techniques

Paediatrics

We’re happy to assess children for hearing, tinnitus, or balance concerns. Please note, we do not provide paediatric medico legal services. Explore our children’s audiology services.
