Hearing Aid Fine-Tuning
As trained audiologists, we take the fitting and adjustment of your listening device very seriously – for us at Byrom Audiology, it’s about getting you back to enjoying life again!
For clients who choose us to provide their hearing aids, we carry out a follow-up check to make sure the device is working as it should – and is adjusted to your needs. Research consistently shows that the results in terms of speech understanding are far superior to using a manufacturer’s suggested hearing aid settings.
As part of our verification process, we carry out a combination of physical device checks and a Real Ear Measure.
- We measure the hearing aid to ensure that the output meets your prescription target.
- Real Ear Measure involves placing a thin silicone tube microphone into the ear canal and measuring the hearing aid output.
- We then adjust the hearing aid for that specific ear and hearing loss.

First, ensure your hearing aid is fully charged or has a fresh battery and if it doesn’t work after that, ensure the wax filter is clear and the dome is not full of wax.
